Our launch to Vasota from Bamnoli
After taking the necessary permit from the forest department officials, we found ourselves in the launch heading towards Met Indavli.
1.5 hr. required to reach Vasota from Bamnoli via launch
Dense forest all the way through, panoramic view of the Shivsagar lake in the and Konkan on the west
Digvijay performing some water stunts
Situated on the western edge of Satara district, this old warrior offers one of the most thrilling trek in the Sahyadri as far as trekking through forestation is concerned.
After reaching the forest department base camp at Met Indavli at 1300 hrs. We start our trek towards Vasota fort.
Temple of god Hanuman on the way towards Vasota Fort.
The path to Vasota fort is quite prominent.
Greeting the people enroute and taking their feedback we reached a point where one way continued to the fort and the other was marked with arrow towards Nageshwar. As decided we continued climbing towards Vasota and reached the top after two and half hours. From this junction Nageshwar is @ 2hr. of walking distance.
On entering the fort we see a Hanuman temple.
The path on the Right of the Maruti temple takes us towards Machi
The view from the edge of the fort was scenic
To the right, one could see Khota Nageshwar, a pinnacle of Nageshwar, and the path to Nageshwar. Right behind, the sight of Koyna watering penetrating in the dense forest below was enthralling.
The path on the left of the Maruti temple takes us to Babukada. Fascinating cliff named Babukada, shaped like the letter ‘U’ that reminds us of Konkan Kada of Harishchandragad. The mountain seen in front of Babukada is the Old Vasota.
